Stardew Valley is a game in which you will have to run your own farm, going from a 'rookie' with little experience to an experienced farmer. Upon entering the game, the first task is to create your character, which allows you to choose your character name, gender, appearance, farm name, etc. You can also feed a pet, with two options; a kitten and a puppy. Next, choose the type of farm you want to run. The game offers seven types of farms: Standard Farm, Forest Farm, Hilltop Farm, Riverside Farm, Wilderness Farm, Four Corners Farm and Beach Farm. The player can only choose to select one and it cannot be changed. The farms at the beginning are covered with weeds and woods and the player is responsible for clearing them out in order to grow crops on the land. Click on the seeds in the item bar to sow the seeds. Once you have finished, you are also responsible for watering the plants, which will stop growing or even wither if not watered. Don't be in too much of a hurry to complete tasks in the early stages of the game, it's more important to open up the land, familiarise yourself with the map and get to know other characters.

There are five different life skills: farming, mining, gathering, fishing and fighting, each with ten levels, each level unlocks a different item so that the player can use different tools to perform different daily tasks. Each of the residents has different preferences. Once you reach a certain level of goodwill, you can get married and have children to create a happy family.
